How to prepare your artwork
A little preparation avoids delays. If you are unsure, share a link to what you have and we will tell you what to change.
1. Start at the right size
Set your document to 4.25 x 11 in or 8.5 x 3.5 in, matching the size you chose in the calculator.
2. Add bleed
Extend background colours and images 0.125 in (1/8 in) beyond each edge so there are no white slivers after trimming.
3. Keep text inside a safe margin
Keep important text and logos at least 0.125 in inside the trim edge. Leave room around the hole and slit so nothing important is cut away.
4. Use CMYK colour
Build the file in CMYK. Colours designed in RGB can look duller when printed.
5. Use high-resolution images
Aim for 300 dpi at the printed size. Images pulled from a website are usually too low in resolution.
6. Send a PDF
A press-ready PDF with fonts embedded or converted to outlines is best. If you chose two-sided printing, include both sides as separate pages.
Print templates with the hole and slit marked are not on this page yet. Send your file and we will check the placement with you.
